Fresno County Public
Library Announces New Library to Be Named
Betty Rodriguez
Regional Library
The Fresno County Public Library
is pleased to announce that the new Library, presently under renovation at
Cedar Ave and Shields Ave will be named in honor of Betty Rodriguez. A
resolution approving this change was adopted by the Fresno County Board of
Supervisors on May 19, 2015. “I whole-heartedly endorse this renaming as Ms. Rodriguez was an ardent library supporter who gave tirelessly to the betterment of our libraries and the community,” said Laurel Prysiazny, County Librarian.
Born and raised in Fresno, Ms. Rodriguez attended Edison High School and Fresno City College. She served on many committees and boards and was active with the Friends of the Fresno County Public Library, Arte Americas – Casa de la Cultura and many others. Her husband of more than 60 years is the Honorable Armando Rodriguez, who served as a Fresno County Superior Court judge. Ms. Rodriguez passed away in 2012.
The Betty Rodriguez Regional Library will be located at 3040 N. Cedar Ave, Fresno, the former site of a Fresh and Easy supermarket. A ceremony celebrating the start of renovations for the new facility is slated for Friday, June 5, 2015 at 1 PM.
